July Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Storybook Alphabet

Welcome to the July Stamp of the Month
Blog Hop!

This month I am following {Cat Nowak's Blog.}   We have 16 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this month’s Stamp of the Month Blog Hop. If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

The July Stamp of the Month is entitled Storybook Alphabet (S1707) (Set of  26).   Here is a picture of this stamp set:

The July Stamp of the Month is perfect for both scrapbooking and cardmaking.  I really wanted to make a card with this stamp set and decided to make a sliding gift card or money holder using our Prickly Pear paper pack.  I also really wanted to use the cactus on the Prickly Pear - Cardmaking set. The cactus is cut out using the thin cuts and stamped with the stamp set that comes with the thin cuts.

I have a funny story to tell you.  I have a giant character defect.  I am a procrastinator.  I have a great memory and  I set deadlines and remember them very well.  But I always overestimate what I can get done before I get started on my projects that have deadlines.  I am not a lazy procrastinator.  I am just guilty of doing too much.

So I knew I had this card to make and I knew that I needed to pack for the Close to My Heart Convention in Salt Lake City.  But if the card came out as I imagined it, I could get it done, photographed, packing done and head to bed early enough to get enough sleep to catch my early morning plane.

Well, it didn't happen that way.  I started the card way too late and then I decided to go ahead and adhere the decorative layers onto the outside of the card before I cut the half circle so that you can remove the inside of the card.  I used our circle thin cuts to make the cut and it worked pretty well.  The coloring was already done on the card and this was the last step.  As I pulled the card out of my cuttlebug and removed the top plate, I was aghast to see that my very scarred cuttlebug plate had made my White Daisy cardstock look like Textured Cardstock.  The 3 layers on the card had pushed the top layer into the plate and picked up the scarring.

I didn't have time to redo the card and finally decided that I liked the texture and have discovered a new technique.

I colored all of the images and the alphabet with our Shin Han markers.  I used the cactus thin cut as a pull for the slider part of the card. When you pull the slider out, there is a little pocket that you can place money in for your intended recipient.

Once I get settled in after Convention, I will post the directions for this card. I will also add my supply list tomorrow.

The July Stamp of the Month Stamp Set can be purchased for $17.95 or if you purchase $50 in CTMH products, you can add this stamp set to your order for an additional $5.  This stamp set is only available between July 1 – July 31, 2017.
